Reaching toward the sun
Maybe I’ll get picked today
To be a salad
-this and following Haikus written by: A (talented) head of lettuce
Growing in the ground
It’s not easy being green
But I enjoy it
If you know someone who enjoys lettuce haiku or talking sloths or Tarot, please share this with them
Rain and yet more rain
I’m soggy but undeterred
Slowly adding leaves
Can you see the sun
Raining down its energy
Photosynthesis
Clouds are drifting by
I would wave if I knew how
A tiny green clump
A bunny runs by
I would join in all the fun
But I’m just a plant
Feeling very big
I am made of everything
Air and rain and soil
License cartoons for all your book, newsletter, presentation, merchandise, refrigerator door, and tattoo (not really but that would be cool) needs
Birds fly overhead
Must be cool to be so high
I stick to the ground
Bees buzzing around
They make my life possible
Groovy little bug
If you are a subscriber, fantastic, and if you’re not yet, the Wise Rock and Frog of Knowledge would love to have you.
It’s a sunny day
I will stretch my leaves out big
To catch all the rays
Puddles on the ground
Raindrops falling on my head
Water everywhere

A new commission for Jeremy, who wanted a New Zealand Fantail bird as a kind of mascot for his round-the-world bike tour that he’s on - it’s his favorite bird and they are really adorable, get a look at one in the wild here - thanks Jeremy!
May you reach for the sun, may you dance with a well-dressed cat, won’t you be my neighbor? -Betsy
