When We Get a New Perspective
Sloth and (Moon)atee 30 - Guest Starring Super Blue Moth Moon
Hello, friend!
One of the loveliest experiences is sharing something you enjoy with somebody else. These days, it can feel like “sharing” has been flattened into clicking icons with hearts or thumbs or little arrows. But the best thing about sharing is, talking to someone or telling someone “you would like this,” or something person-sized like that.
So yes, please share this letter with that Share button, but also, maybe mention it to somebody, in the course of your day, in conversation, as a way of being a friend - tell somebody that you know this person who makes stuff up every week and sends it out, and there’s frogs and sloths and space and it’s silly and a bit of a break and maybe uplifting or hopeful. And then forward them the email or the address or tell em to google me.

Sloth and (Moon)atee
The Tardigrades (microscopic and pretty indestructible creatures, learn about them here) are on the Moon, taking a long hike (note their handy rucksacks). Their destination: A leaf, which Sloth left there for them as a new home. However, Sloth-distance and Tardigrade-distance are very different, since what is a couple feet for Sloth is several days’ travel for the little critters. So, they’ve been walking for some time. And that’s where we find them:

Finally, this week was a Super Blue Moon, which means a big ol’ moon that’s at its closest part of its orbit, and is also full, and is also the second full moon in a calendar month (which, I don’t think the Moon knows about calendars, but yes) - anyway, I took the telescope out to peer at the Very Bright Moon, which was lovely and I tried to get a picture -
But then, as I was walking back to the house carrying the tripod, I saw this beautiful little moth friend on the wall, a shiny aqua green:
So tiny, so not the Moon. What a universe we live in, that produces both of these things and we can encounter them in just about the same moment. What a universe, isn’t it? What a universe.
Did I give a little wave to Sloth and Manatee on the Moon? Yes, yes I did.
